Inspired by the martial art of Kendo. Kendo is a martial art that originated in Japan and developed in the 19th century. Kendo literally means “way of the sword”, it refers to a way of life that embodies the discipline gained through kendo training.

Kendo is quite different from other sports. Sports such as judo, aikido and karate may have some value as forms of unarmed self-defense, but kendo requires a shinai (bamboo sword).

The martial art of Kendo draws on Zen Buddhism which requires its followers to Meditate. Kendo meditation is designed to tame the ego, internalize challenges and prevent the mind from being influenced by external thoughts.
